Part 2: How the ‘You Pay What You Can’ Model Works

May 28, 2025 by Kolten Craft Leave a Comment

In Part 1, I explained why offering accessible, affordable web design matters deeply to me. Now, let’s walk through exactly how the ‘You Pay What You Can’ process works—from our initial meeting to launching your brand-new website.

Step 1: Initial Zoom Consultation

We begin with a detailed Zoom call designed to gather all the essential information for your new website. During this meeting, I’ll ask targeted questions about your business, your audience, your branding preferences, and your goals. Together, we’ll fill out a streamlined template designed specifically to simplify and accelerate the design process.

Don’t worry if you’re unsure about certain content or imagery—anything missing we’ll effortlessly generate using AI-driven tools and source high-quality images from free stock resources like Unsplash.com. With over a decade of professional experience in web design, coupled with my expertise in business and psychology, I’ll help you select the most effective content, colors, and visuals to resonate with your audience.

Step 2: Building Your Website

Following our initial consultation, I’ll spend one week crafting your website. The design process follows a clear, proven template—meaning you’ll receive a polished, professional website without the costs and complexity of custom design.

Your new website will come fully optimized for performance, featuring integrations such as Google Analytics, comprehensive SEO setup, SiteGround security, and efficient caching and media optimization. The result is a fast, secure, and SEO-friendly site ready to attract and engage visitors effectively.

Step 3: Website Review and Training

After the one-week build period, we’ll reconnect via another Zoom call. During this session, I’ll present your completed website, demonstrating all its features, and show you how easy it is to manage and update content yourself. We’ll address any quick adjustments or refinements you might need right on the spot, ensuring everything aligns perfectly with your vision.

Step 4: Payment and Launch

Once you’re completely satisfied, your site enters maintenance mode—a brief period where it’s hidden from public view. At this point, you select exactly what you want to pay for your new website. There’s no minimum fee and no hidden costs, though there’s a required $220 annual fee to cover hosting expenses on my server.

Typically, clients choose to pay between $500 and $1,500, but you determine the amount based solely on your comfort and capability.

Once payment is received, your website goes live immediately. My only strong request, and one that greatly supports my business, is that you share your experience by leaving a five-star Google review. Your feedback helps ensure I can continue offering flexible, high-quality web design to others.

Why Clients Love This Model

This straightforward, transparent process empowers you to access professional web design without financial strain. You gain control over your budget and enjoy peace of mind knowing your investment directly supports your growth and success.

Stay tuned for the next installment, where we’ll explore exactly what’s included in your ‘You Pay What You Can’ website package.
