Hi, I’m Kolten Craft—a Kansas City native, artist, musician, and lifelong nerd with a passion for building beautiful, high-performing websites that help small businesses thrive.
I’ve been building custom websites professionally since 2013, and in 2021 I launched Web Design Kansas City with a clear purpose: to move away from corporate work and reconnect with my local roots. I wanted to focus on helping the small businesses, service providers, real estate professionals, and city centers that make Kansas City such a special place. Independent Square, small family-owned shops, local trades—those are the kinds of folks I love working with.
After spending years growing a web agency to a 12-person team, I realized I missed the hands-on, craft-driven part of the work. I wanted to get my hands back in the dirt—to do the actual designing and coding myself. That shift allows me to ensure every single project meets a level of detail and quality that just isn’t possible when you’re managing a large team. Now, when you hire me, you’re hiring me, not a junior dev halfway across the country.

Everything I do comes from an artist’s mindset. I’ve been a visual artist and musician my whole life—and it shows in my work. My approach to web design is rooted in creativity, emotion, and intentionality. I also bring in my background in business and psychology to create websites that are not just beautiful, but also strategically built to convert.

A Bit More About Me
When I’m not designing websites, I’m usually hanging out with my wife, Amy, and our kids—making music, drinking gongfu-style tea, or geeking out about Star Wars. I came up through KC’s punk scene, playing shows in bars and basements as a teenager. My musical tastes run the full spectrum—from jazz and classical to metal and noise rock. (And yes, mewithoutYou is my favorite band.)
